EMAIL TO REQUEST AN AUDITION BY FRIDAY, JUNE 15TH AT NOON EST!
Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) has started its casting search for PRO-MANIA 2K12! If you feel you have what it takes to be a noble babyface or a misanthropic heel, then email the casting team at the address below to be considered for the next Fringe Festival! This could be the year you come out on top!
When you come to the audition, bring a prepared character in mind and be ready to present them as a “babyface” (good guy) and a “heel” (bad guy). Don't feel like you have to go all out for this, but also feel free to do just that if you are inspired. We'll be casting just as many people who come in with rough ideas and have good presence as folks who arrive in crazy warpaint and threaten to kill us all. You’ll initially be auditioned in groups of 6. A portion of our casting committee will be on hand with run warm-up improv exercises. Out of each group, 2 applicants will then be asked to “cut a promo” (deliver a short improvised monologue in character) against each other as if they are combatants, interview one another, & finally interviewed as a “tag-team” by a member of the casting committee.
Auditions will take place on Saturday, June 16th from noon - 3:00 p.m.. at A and E Studio, 1233 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107. To be considered for Pro-Mania 2K12, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with “PRO-MANIA 2K12 Audition” in the subject line and include your name, best contact phone number, city you live in, age, height, weight, general level of fitness (be honest!).
Performers cast in a role for PRO-MANIA 2K12 will be expected to work alongside our production team to help create videos throughout July, attend rehearsals in August, and be required to participate as ring crew (helping with setup and safety) during our run at the Philly Fringe in September. While there is physical contact for this production all stage combat will be handled by trained professionals. We want to take care of our cast and make sure this Fringe production is injury free.
There are approximately 24 spots to fill and a few character-specific archtypes we’re trying to find for featured roles. Please be aware that while you may accepted for the show the character you prepare for the audition may or may not be what you are asked to perform. You may also be cast as multiple characters.
